Dr. Shirin Karimi, ND, is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and a medical graduate from Iran. She integrates her medical knowledge and naturopathic skills to offer a unique, evidence-based, and complementary patient-centered treatment approach.
With her clinical and research background, her primary focus is on providing complementary, personalized naturopathic “Cancer Survivorship Care,” coordinating with your oncologic teams to support recovery, mitigate the side effects of cancer treatments, address concurrent chronic conditions, promote your physical and mental health, and reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.
In addition to cancer care, Dr. Karimi is passionate about consulting with patients managing chronic conditions, weight management, obesity, prediabetes, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, osteoarthritis and digestive issue.
She develops integrative care plans that complement conventional medical or after-cancer care with individualized naturopathic approaches. These include the use of nutraceuticals, stress management techniques, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and customized lifestyle modifications. She also prioritizes primary prevention and long-term health, helping patients lower their risk of developing certain cancers while enhancing overall well-being.
Dr. Karimi trained as an MD and general pathologist at a leading university-affiliated hospital in Tehran. From 2013 to 2017, she completed clinical fellowships in pulmonary pathology and neuropathology at Toronto General Hospital, University of Toronto. She later joined a neuro-clinical oncology research team at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, focusing on oncologic pathology and the development of advanced molecular diagnostic tests. Her collaborative work with a team of clinicians, oncologists, pathologists, surgeons, and researchers has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Karimi contributed to the Ontario Ministry of Health’s clinical programs, further exemplifying her dedication to patient care and public health advocacy. Afterward, Dr Karimi completed the naturopathic medicine program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine” (CCNM) including one year of “Cancer Focus shift Internship” at the Integrative Cancer Care Clinic, CCNM.
Dr. Karimi is a proud member of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO), the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP), an international organization of naturopathic doctors dedicated to advancing integrative cancer care.
